Description

The EDGE standard (Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution) is a mobile telephony standard and an evolution of GSM. It is an excellent additional device to UMTS, and can notably offer the same broadband services provided to users in urban areas, to an extended number of users in rural or sparsely populated suburban areas.  It also enables the preparation/improvement of services, when aiming to launch a 3G network.
