[Radio Data System -Traffic Message Channel]
RDS enables the dissemination of data simultaneously with an FM radio broadcast , through the use of the sub-carrier of the ferquency used.
TMC is an ESC voted European standard  aimed at specifiying traffic information coding, dissemination on the FM/RDS sub-carrier and decoding.
Information may be of two sorts:
- Event information that uses the ALERT-C protocol,
- Traffic status information and journey times that use the ALERT-Plus protocol.
